THE Embassy of Malaysia Trade Office (Matrade) has brought in seven of Malaysia’s top ICT firms to offer new hardware and software solutions to Philippine industries, such as business-process outsourcing, banking, health care and tollways.

Already, a member of the delegation—Hopetech Sdn Bhd.—has signed a memorandum of understanding with Equipment Engineers Inc. (EEI), paving the way for the two companies to offer cost-effective and robust integrated solutions for multi-application smartcard and revenue- collection system in the Philippines.

Hopetech, through its local unit Hopetech Philippines Inc., hopes to increase its revenues by 10 percent to 15 percent through the deal with EEI, a subsidiary of the Filipino-owned construction firm EEI Corp.

Har Man Ahmad, Matrade trade commissioner, told the BusinessMirror the products and services that the Malaysian delegation brought in are new technologies not yet available in the Philippines.

Matrade’s delegation for the specialized marketing mission to the Philippines also includes Strateq Sdn. Bhd. Mobitek Sdn. Bhd., Eprotea Msc Sdn. Bhd., Orenda Sdn. Bhd., Triaset Sdn. Bhd. and Esky Multimedia Sdn. Bhd. They will be meeting with their prospective Philippine partners and clients until October 20. “It shows that the interest from Malaysia companies toward the Philippines is increasing due to increased confidence in the new administration,” Ahmad said.

Malaysia seeks to expand exports of high-value products and seize higher market share in the Philippines. Aside from ICT, Malaysia will also engage in extensive export promotional campaigns in the Philippines for building and construction products and services, energy-related sectors, food and beverage (halal foods), medical equipment and disposables.

Ahmad said Hopetech will take advantage of the connections of EEI in marketing its integrated solutions electronic purse, campus applications, e-ticketing, central clearing house, toll-collection system, automated fare-collection system and area-road pricing.
