Tropical depression Egay slightly accelerated on Sunday as it exits the Philippine area of responsibility, by Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning, the state weather bureau reported.

Egay made no landfall but Luzon, parts of Southern Tagalog and Metro Manila still experienced rain showers.

Six provinces in Luzon have been placed under public Storm Signal No. 1 on Sunday afternoon—Isabela, Cagayan, Calayan, Babuyan Group of Islands, Batanes Group of Islands, Apayao and Ilocos Norte—the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its latest weather bulletin on Sunday afternoon.

As of 5 p.m., Egay was located at 140 km East of Aparri, Cagayan, and was approaching the northern tip of Cagayan toward Batanes-Calayan area and is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour moving northwest at 19 kph.

Weather forecasters estimated that Egay will be 200 km west of Basco, Batanes, or 160 km south-southwest of southern Taiwan by Monday and will be completely out of the country’s area the following day.
