In the latest effort to turn around the Cleveland Browns, coach Eric Mangini looked to none other than National Basketball Association (NBA) superstar LeBron James.

“I think he should come on down,” Mangini told reporters. “I know he’s pretty busy right now, but if he wants to give it a shot, the guy is gifted. He’s competitive and tough. I’m sure whatever he applied himself to, he’d probably be good in baseball or soccer or swimming.”

The invitation came after James, a high school standout in both basketball and football, told the Associated Press on Tuesday he could turn around the struggling franchise.

APPARENTLY, a full week’s off couldn’t make a difference to shake off Coca-Cola’s misfortune.

Mark Yee had a flawless fourth quarter to cap a late rally by Burger King for a 106-97 victory over the Tigers Wednesday night in the 2009-10 KFC-Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

FILIPINO-American Riza Zalameda scuttled Han Na Lae of Korea with a superb all-around game to hack out a 6-3, 6-3 victory on Wednesday and roll into the quarterfinal round of the $10,000 PLDT-Smart International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s Circuit Week 2 at the Rizal Tennis Center.

Zalameda, who decided to withdraw from the ongoing PCA Open to concentrate on this meet which offers ITF ranking points, shoots for a spot in the semis against fourth seed Yoo Mi of Korea in one of Thursday’s four quarterfinals matches.
