ARMY chief Lt. Gen. Delfin Bangit opened another Army store at Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija to cater to the needs of soldiers in Central Luzon. The store was the fourth for the Army following the opening of three outlets in Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro and Capiz. The Army stores offer Army personnel with easy access to almost all combat clothing and individual equipment (CCIE). Four of the CCIEs—combat boots, sets of battle dress attire, olive-drab (OD) T-shirts and OD athletic short pants—could be accessed through the direct-exchange (DX) system wherein new clothing and equipment could be exchanged with the old and worn-out ones without any question. Lt. Col Nestor Burgos, Army spokesman, said the Army is in the process of expanding the lineup of CCIEs that would be made available through the DX system, as rubber shoes and vehicle tires are already being procured. He said other CCIEs that are not included in the system can be procured in Army stores at reasonable prices. Burgos said Bangit planned to put up an Army store in each of the 10 Infantry Divisions and another one in the National Capital Region. “The establishment of Army stores is only one of the many efforts of the command in taking care of its soldiers.
