CITY OF MALOLOS—The Alyansa Tigil Mina (ATM) is hailing the order of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to further investigate the alleged illegal demolition and dispersal operations conducted in a mining-affected community, which hosts an Australian mining company owned by OceanaGold Corp. Inc. (OGPI) in Nueva Vizcaya.

THE government has required larger-vessel operators to hire tugboat operators when using the Dumaguete Port and other facilities near the area in a move to protect state assets.

In an administrative order that already took effect this week, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said its new measure will cover all vessels that will exceed 1,000 gross registered tonnage (GRT) that will dock and undock at the port and other government-owned ports in the area.

ANGELES CITY—The Sangguniang Pambarangay in Balibago headed by village chief Rodelio Mamac urged the Commission on Audit, Mayor Francis Nepomuceno and the City Tourism Office to make full disclosure of fiscal accounting as well as the application of proceeds derived from the October 2008 Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan and October 2009 Street Jam Party along the stretch of MacArthur Avenue in the said village.
