BARAKO Bull management is keeping everybody in suspense if it would participate in the Philippine Basketball Association’s third conference, the Governors’ Cup, which starts next month.

But the suspense ends on Friday, the deadline given by the PBA to its 10th member that went on leave citing financial woes.

Even its head coach, Junel Baculi, has no inkling about the team’s future.

“Well, as of now, no notice has reached me [if they are going back to training],” Baculi told the BusinessMirror.  “No meeting yet with the management.”

In the PBA board meeting last week in Boracay, Barako Bull governor Manny Mendoza said they intend to join the league but are undecided on which product or team name to carry.

The Governors’ Cup, also an import-laced conference, starts on June 11—no longer next weekend after the organizers of the Dubai opening games backed out—in Tacloban with the game between Air21 and B-Meg Derby Ace.

As of the close of offices on Thursday, the PBA has not received any word from the Barako Bull management.

Barako Bull tried to sell its franchise to Phoenix Fuel but the board turned it down because of league rules on lockouts—the San Miguel Corp. franchise will now be known as Petron.

The PBA has also set for Friday the deadline for ABS-CBN and TV5 to submit their respective bids for the broadcast rights for the games next season.

Solar Sports, the league’s current television coveror, is no longer renewing its three-year contract which ends after the Governors’ Cup.
