THE National Police had revoked the gun license of a Bureau of Customs clerk who allegedly fired at the utility vehicle of a 20-year-old student that he chased while driving a Porsche sports car last month.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., National  Police spokesman, said the Firearms and Explosive Office (FEO), had already canceled the license that was issued to the caliber .40 Taurus pistol of Paulino Elevado.

Cruz said the FEO tagged the handgun on January 27, meaning its license was subjected to revocation proceedings, in order to prevent the possible transfer and sale of the said pistol.

He said that after deliberations by a board, the office revoked Elevado’s license on February 1.

Elevado was caught by a closed circuit television camera on January 21 driving the sports car as he chased and then shot at the student after a traffic accident.

The customs clerk was with his friend Florencio Bato.

Following the incident, Elevado did not report for work at the BOC, prompting Commissioner Rozanno Rufino Biazon to declare him absent without leave.

President Aquino also fired Elevado from the bureau, while Biazon ordered the conduct of a lifestyle check on the clerk and other BOC officials and employees.

Early this week, Elevado however appeared before Biazon.

Footage from a CCTV camera showed Elevado speeding in a sports car in the early hours of January 21 on the southbound lane of South Luzon Expressway as it chased the Toyota Innova being driven by the student.

The Porsche and Innova earlier figured in a traffic accident.

The Innova swerved to the service road heading to Villamor Air Base as it tried to evade the pursuing Porsche.

Elevado, who was with a companion, eventually caught up with the student, who was also with another student.

Elevado and his companion allegedly beat up the student and his friend.

When Elevado threatened to get his firearm from his vehicle, the student and his friend sped off, triggering another round of car chase.

The student told the police that Elevado fired at his vehicle four times, which created bullet holes in the rear side of the Innova.
