JEVERPS Corp. is set to file libel and perjury charges against Kolonwel Trading for allegedly maligning its reputation and integrity by issuing baseless accusations through the media and filing assorted cases before the Ombudsman, the Senate and several government offices.

“Nakahanda na ang mga kasong isasampa namin laban sa Kolonwel dahil sa walang tigil na paninira nila sa aming kumpanya na lubhang nakaapekto sa aming reputasyon,” said Chito Dimaculangan, lawyer and spokesman for Jeverps.

The company’s top officials and lawyers are set to meet  on Monday to finalize the legal action against Kolonwel and its alleged sales manager Prudencio “Dennis” Quido, who recently filed graft charges against Jeverps with the Ombudsman.

It was gathered that Kolonwel and sister company Joodar Cottage Industry owners Whelma Lanzuela and Peter Go Cheng may also be included in Jeverps’s suit.

Dimaculangan said Jeverps’s reputation was damaged by Quido’s baseless accusations in his complaint with the Ombudsman and his testimony with the Senate that its noodle products lack proper nutrients.

“Pinatunayan na ng Bureau of Food and Drugs na ang aming noodles ay kumpleto ng nutrients, taliwas sa bintang ni Quido,” Dimaculangan pointed out.

Dimaculangan also said Quido allegedly misrepresented before the Senate and the Ombudsman that instant noodles fortified with eggs and malunggay produced by Jeverps are still in the research-and-
development stage. “This is not true. Jeverps is ready to produce and manufacture the said type of fortified noodles, as our research and development of the said variant of noodle was completed more than a year ago,” Dimaculangan added.  C. Mocon
