Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero, celebrated his 150th birth anniversary this year. He inspired a generation of heroes to lead his country to freedom. He died at age 35.

Another hero, Efren Peñaflorida, CNN Hero of the Year for 2009, was internationally recognized for his efforts to teach street children basic education. He got the award when he was still in his late 20’s and inspired the younger generation to become heroes in their own ways.

Both of these heroes were recognized not because they did everything to change the world, but still they made a mark in their country. They did what they thought they needed to do in their own field and gave it their best effort, a trait that is expected from everyone.

And the best young marketers in the field of marketing, sales and entrepreneurship are needed for the 7th Mansmith Young Market Masters Awards (YMMA) 2012, those that up-and-coming marketers, sales managers and entrepreneurs can look up to as role models.  Mansmith YMMA is open for nominations by individuals, companies and corporations to honor young achievers who excel in marketing and encourage young people in their respective companies.

Nominees should be a Filipino citizen who is 35 years young and below (before the end of the year of nomination). They should have at least served 2 full years for a company at the time of nomination with progressive leadership, outstanding marketing and entrepreneurial knowledge.

There are three categories in which the award will be open to. The marketing and sales categories are open to marketing and sales achievers, those responsible for elevating their company’s status and built a solid sustainability of the brand. The entrepreneur category looks for an owner or a part owner of a business with a pioneering and innovative project that offers a new product or creatively enhanced an existing one.

YMMA, one of Mansmith and Fielders, Inc.’s advocacies and the first and only award giving body that recognizes young achievers in marketing and entrepreneurship, was conceived to provide support and inspiration for this generation’s young marketing professionals to become highly competitive in the field. It seeks to motivate and challenge young marketers to put their game a notch higher. Previous awardees, young as they are, have already made their mark in the industry and the next batch of awardees could just be right around the corner.

The nominees will be judged by recognized experts in the field of marketing, according to Mansmith YMMA founders Josiah Go and Chiqui Escareal-Go, who added that they will not stop bringing attention and recognition to achievers who deserve it. Much can be expected for this year, as YMMA is taking it to the next level.

Rizal and Peñaflorida did not just do what they were supposed to do. They did more than what was asked from them. Aside from their best effort, the extra effort that came with it not only changed the lives of people they have touched, but also a society filled with depression and apathy. This year’s YMMA nominees could be doing the same in the field of marketing, guiding young Filipino marketing professionals to the path of excellence.

Deadline for submission of entries is on October 31, 2011. For inquiries, call (02) 584-5858 or (02) 584-8989 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Entries can also be sent via fax at (632) 722-2318 or 412-0034.
