FOR almost half a century, Filipinos have come to love Goldilocks. Since May 1966, it has captivated our hearts, not to mention our palates, with its baked goodies. On many occasions, it has become a delectable part of each birthday, wedding, baptism, graduation, anniversary or just any gathering. No wonder until today it remains the country’s No. 1 bakeshop. As Goldilocks turns 45, it is but a fitting gesture for the company to live by its unique passion for delightful sharing and thoughtful giving through food. This time, by making its treasured recipes available to everybody, especially homemakers, through its very own Bakebook.
“This sharing of blessings that we have received as a company [and] as a brand [is our way of] saying thank you to the Filipinos for being with us for 45 years,” Goldilocks Marketing Director Pinky Yee said during the book launch on Thursday. “They are the reasons why the company is No.1. The customer is the reason why we are where we are today.”
Freddie Go Sr., chairman of the board of Goldilocks, envisioned and began the groundwork for this tribute to the sisters—Milagros Yee and Clarita Go—who have tirelessly and relentlessly pursued the perfection of each Goldilocks product.
“Their proficiency in cooking and baking is accompanied by their generosity to share the fruits of their passion,” said Goldilocks President Richard Leelin Yee in his opening remarks. “Indeed, the products that originated from their kitchen have changed the way Filipinos celebrate and bond with one another.”
The Goldilocks Bakebook is a historic collection of 108 recipes in 211 pages. It took seven years to make, with endless kitchen testing and the invaluable effort and dedication of a hardworking team.
A unique recipe book in itself, it features some of the well-loved creations of Goldilocks, including the carrot cake, classic brownies, triple-layered cake, mocha roll, cassava cake, chicken pie, leche flan, puto, pulvoron and crema de fruta, to name a few. With it, homemakers will know how to prepare these recipes in simple, fuzz-free way guaranteed with the Goldilocks seal of perfection right at the comfort of their homes.
The Goldilocks Bakebook is not just a recipe book. The history of Goldilocks as a company is also woven into its pages. And since the brand has been a part of the lives of the many, real stories of customers are included at the end of the book—sharing their sweet moments and how the bakeshop’s products have affected their lives.
“Through the Goldilocks Bakebook, we hope that you will gain further insight into the values of our company and its founders. More than that, we hope that it will lead to more Goldilocks sweet moments, and enable you to share these moments with others,” Leelin said.
What’s more, the book is a non-profit generating activity for the baking firm. All the proceeds of the book will go to the Goldilocks Foundation to fund educational scholarships to deserving students. More so, it is made with entrepreneurial people in mind since the founders were entrepreneurs themselves.
“With this book, we hope that we have given the Pinoys the tool to start [their bakery business]. With baking, they can turn their passion into business,” Yee said.
The Goldilocks Bakebook is now available in National Book Store outlets, and at Goldilocks stores nationwide beginning November 14.
