AS Star Magic’s Bea Alonzo turned 24 on October 17, the actress also celebrated her 10th year in show business. She was launched as part of ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Batch 10 when she was just 14 years old.

Ten years plus a string of hit movies and TV shows later, Bea admits that her journey to stardom hasn’t been an easy one.

But now the young actress is reaping the rewards of her hard work.

Happy birthday Bea! What is your birthday wish?

I can’t wish for anything more material. (Thinks hard)  I really wish that all my decisions will be the right one. I’m 24 now and I’m no longer a young girl who can afford to do mistakes. I need to be more responsible now.

What do you think is your biggest mistake?

In my 24 years, I don’t think I have committed any major, major mistake. (Laughs) Seriously, a lot. But I want to think I’ve learned from them.

What about with love?

Oh yes! I’ve committed a lot of mistakes but my heart is now enjoying the rewards.

Yes, it’s very obvious. How is Zanjoe (Marudo, also an ABS-CBN talent)?

He’s fine.

So once and for all, are you an item?

Yes, for seven months now.

How did you become an item?

There was no proposal, like he told me that he loves me and then we already have a relationship. It wasn’t really planned.

Nothing. We were having dinner and I just told him that I’m ready. That I’m ready to go there.

What do you love about Zanjoe?

His sense of humor. He’s not a loud joker and all but he’s very witty. Also, he’s the least “showbiz” guy I’ve ever met.

Zanjoe said he wants to marry you already.

(Laughs) That’s a joke! Not to be taken seriously. We’re still not at that point! I mean, we are enjoying our relationship for what it is. But to take it to the next level? I don’t think so. I don’t think I can settle down at this age.

So anything special you plan to do on your birthday with Zanjoe?

We’re going to Korea. Him, two common friends and I. It’s a vacation that we have been planning for the longest time. We plan to stay there for a week. I haven’t been to Korea yet so I’m very excited.

What about your charity event? Don’t you have one on your birthday?

Yes, when I get home. It’s this charity I’ve been supporting ever since, called PRODA. These are young people who were former drug addicts but have now been rehabilitated and want to have a second chance in life.

What about for your fans?

Well, we have a get-together every quarter which we’re doing soon. I’m very close to them. I may not have a Twitter account and I don’t do chats as much but I go to them or they go to me and we interact.
