THIS world, as we know it, is coming to an end. When one of the characters of the film 2012 mouthed those words, I didn’t know I was hearing the first and only intelligent statement from the movie. It is not even original: All blogs and web sites devoted to the end times contain the statement. The rest of the film is a demonstration of a fire-and-brimstone set of scenes that could drive a good Catholic to the confessional box.

Sometimes you have to wonder if the landscape of Philippine TV has become such that a Surgeon General’s warning out to be required, something not unlike what used to be attached to a pack of cigarettes: “Watching TV may be hazardous to your health.”

Of course, watching television won’t put you at risk of lung cancer, sure, but dire health issues could arise nonetheless from watching too much of the local offerings, particularly the soap operas on prime time.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart must have gotten a new stylist.

Or a stylist, period. Either that or she’s gotten a fashion sense implant.

Usually known for her sullen expression, grungy jeans and sweats, Kristen has been beaming and getting her designer fash on during the recent international promotion of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
