IN the summer of 2008, as CNN surfed a massive wave of interest in the presidential race, network president Jon Klein laid out how he planned to keep viewers after the election faded. While his competitors believed “the more opinionated the better,” Klein said he had a different strategy: “If we concentrate on really being the best news network in the world, we’ll continue to do well and grow and do even better.” |

THE world has been getting smaller and smaller. Access to information is just a click away because of the Internet, product distribution goes to the far reaches of the world, and telecommunications systems have never purred more efficiently. I find it hard to imagine how architects of previous generations were able to keep up with current trends, as books, magazines and other resource materials back then would come to our shores a year later, with their validity as a trend expired. That’s why I always feel thankful that I am fortunate enough to practice my profession amid all these technological phenomena. If not for all of the available accesses to information, I probably wouldn’t have stumbled upon the City of Fashion and Design in Paris.
