The Department of Labor and Employment assured Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia they will not lose their jobs because the Philippines and Saudi Arabia failed to reach an agreement on the Saudis’ appeal to relax deployment rules of Filipino household-service workers there.
Labor Undersecretary Lourdes Transmonte said Saudi Arabia remained open for Filipino construction workers and nurses.
She said the government has remained firm in imposing strict deployment rules for household-service workers, particularly in the Middle East countries to stop the cycle of physical and sexual abuses on Filipinos, particularly women.
