THE National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) wants to bring down registration fees of devices with Bluetooth and wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) capability as prices of these units have drastically gone down.
The registration fee is currently pegged at P100 per device. The commission proposed to lower the fee to P25, or at no charge at all. “The prices of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled devices have decreased significantly and continue to decrease as technology develops.
The registration fees imposed by the MC on said devices have significantly increased the prices of said devices,” said the NTC in a draft circular which amends the old one. A public hearing is set on October 24.
