THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has released the draft Philippine National Standards (PNS) for milk products and elastomeric joint sealants and has given producers, importers and other stakeholders up to the middle of August to file their respective comments.
The DTI’s Bureau of Product Standards (BPS) said concerned parties who will not submit their comments will be deemed to have accepted the proposed PNS.
For elastomeric joint sealant, the BPS has circulated Draft Philippine National Standards (DPNS) ASTM C 920:2011 (ASTM published 2011)—Standard specification for elastomeric joint sealants and ASTM D 2453:2011 (ASTM published 2009)—standard test method for shrinkage and tenacity of oil and resin-base caulking compounds. The deadline for the submission of comments for the products is on August 9.
For milk products, the BPS has released 15 draft national standards, and has set the deadline for the submission of comments on August 15.
The 15 proposed PNS for milk products cover the determination of fat content, guidance on sampling, determination of moisture content, inspection by attributes, determination of freezing point, determination of lactose content, titratable acidity, calcium, potassium, sodium and magnesium contents, and milk fat purity.
Products covered are milk, milk products, dried milk, dried milk products, evaporated milk, condensed milk, cream, processed cheese and milk-based infant foods.
The DTI-BPS said copies of the draft national standards are available in its office and can be requested through email.
Products not following the specifications required by their respective PNS will not be allowed to be sold in the market.
