‘Stop making excuses,’ BCDA tells CJHDevco

THE Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has asked the Sobrepena-led Camp John Hay Development Corp. (CJHDevco) to stop making excuses for not paying its rental arrears, even pointing to the latter’s assertion that its business is being affected by the non-operation of its one-stop action center (OSAC) in Camp John Hay.

Dean Santiago, BCDA vice president for business development and operations, said contrary to the claim of CJHDevco, the OSAC remains  in operation since 2005 and has the necessary personnel to process and issue the needed business and developmental permits within the John Hay Special Economic Zone.

“If there is really no OSAC, how can the other locators or sublessees of CJHDevco proceed with their development plans? Ayala Land Inc. is about to complete its Phase 1 of its business process outsourcing development. The new entrance gate is now passable where a number of trees have to be cut or earth balled. The Monet Hotel is also being constructed. All of these could not have been started if the relevant permits were not issued by the OSAC. In fact, the permits of these companies were processed expeditiously,” Santiago stressed.

He pointed out that CJHDevco is only using the “non-operation” of the OSAC as an alibi for not paying its lease rental to BCDA.
