LISTED San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMBI) is expanding its local operations next year with plans to build a new bottling plant in Laguna as it prepares for the acquisition of the international beer unit of parent company San Miguel Corp. (SMC) in the coming months. In a chance interview on Tuesday, SMBI president Roberto N. Huang said firm will spend up to P1 billion to build the facility. |

MORE companies are keen on going into toll road operations. This, as six private companies are likely to compete for the right to operate the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (Sctex) after they bought the terms of reference (TOR) for the bidding to be conducted by the state-owned Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The firms are the Metro Pacific Tollways Development Corp., STAR Tollways Corp., Atty. Alvin B. Bugtas representing the Citra Group, San Miguel Corp., Amicus Holdings Inc., and IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd. |

LISTED Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. (PPPI) sold 7.5 million common shares to the pension fund Social Security System (SSS) in a bid to enhance its capitalization and raise funds to expand its retail network. In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), PPPI said it has firmed up and executed a subscription agreement with SSS for the purchase of up to a total of 10 percent of PPPI’s outstanding capital stock. |
