PRESIDENT Aquino has approved the nomination of the new president and chief executive officer of the United Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB) to replace Ramon Y. Sy.

In a letter to Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) Chairman J. Andres D. Bautista dated October 12, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. said that Mr. Aquino has approved the nomination of Jeronimo U. Kilayko as a member of the board of directors, and president and CEO of UCPB, vice Sy.

Kilayko, who currently sits in the UCPB board of advisers, is vice chairman of the Bank of Commerce and president of the Central Visayas Finance Corp.

Kilayko had served as chairman and CEO of UCPB, CIIF Oil Mills, UCPB General Insurance Co. Inc., United Coconut Planters Life Assurance Corp. and United Coconut Chemicals Inc.

Kilayko was director and president of San Miguel Properties and held various executive positions in the Asean Finance Corp.-Singapore and the Land Bank of the Philippines.

He obtained his degree in Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Commerce from De La Salle University.
