Robert Herndon poured 11 of his 26 points in the third quarter as Wang’s Basketball pulled away for a 133-92 win over Zark’s Burger on Monday in the Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
Michael Juico turned in a double-double with his personal-best 30 points and 12 rebounds. John Ambulodto scored 16 points, while Timothy Habelito, Michole Sorela and Ryan Arambulo combined for 33 points for the Couriers, who shot 55 percent from the field.
The Couriers also dominated the boards, 60-30, registered a 31-14 edge in assists and had a 13-6 advantage on steals on the way to their fourth in win in seven games.
“I thought we did well defensively. Our game plan was to keep Zark’s from making easy shots, I thought we succeeded on that,” Wang’s Basketball Coach Pablo Lucas said.
Neither team led by seven points before the Couriers outscored the Jawbreakers, 46-12, in the third quarter to break the game wide open. Wang’s posted its biggest lead at 133-86.
The Jawbreakers picked up their sixth loss in seven games.
Robby Celiz tallied a game-high 37 points, most of them he scored when Wang’s had the game well under control.
RR de Leon scored 18 points, Clark Bautista had 15 and James Mangahas chipped in 11, including three three-point shots for the Jawbreakers, who trailed by just six at halftime but shot poorly in the third.
