TOP Filipino flyweights Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio and the returning Eugene Toquero are raring to see action in the ONE Championship’s “Valor of Champions” on April 24 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Team Lakay’s Eustaquio, holding a 6-3 (won-lost) record in his young mixed-martial arts (MMA) career, looks to put his loss to Adriano “Black Diamond” Moraes behind when he faces Thai knockout artist Anatpong “Mak” Bunrad (4-1 won-lost). After picking up two wins by decisions, Eustaquio was lined up for the inaugural ONE flyweight title. But he failed to escape the grip of the Brazilian submission expert Moraes last September in Cambodia and was forced to tap out with one minute and six seconds left in the second round. The heavy-handed Toquero (6-1 won-lost, five knockouts) will make his first in-ring appearance in nearly a year when he challenges the untested Brianata Rosadhi (1-1) of Indonesia.
Rosadhi has not fought inside the ONE cage since his loss to Malaysian Raymond Tan on September 13, 2013.
Both fighters hope to make their mark in ONE’s flyweight division ruled by Moraes, who successfully defended his belt against Asuka Mikami via a five-round unanimous decision in Malaysia earlier this month.
