NEARLY a year after launching its first “Evolve” model in the Philippines, GN Netcom (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. recently launched another headset device targeting the corporate segment.
Ben Samman, managing director for Asean, said during the launch on May 22 that Evolve 75 has an Active Noise Cancellation feature and a “Do Not Disturb” busy light.
Samman said the company is confident of sales as the business-process outsourcing sector remains booming in the Philippines market.
According to industry data, the industry has nearly 800,000 total full-time employees.
The launch of the GN’s headset comes after the International Data Corp. (IDC) said in March it sees earworn devices as “poised for growth as new startups bring their innovative technology to the table and traditional headphone companies incorporate additional capabilities beyond audio.”
However, IDC said while “growth is expected, volumes will remain somewhat modest as the primary features of health and fitness tracking ‘hearables’ overlap with the more popular wrist worn devices.”
IDC said worldwide shipments of earware hit 700,000 in 2016, with a 0.7-percent market share. IDC said it expects this figure to hit 4.2 million by 2021, with a 1.8-percent share in the overall wearable device market.
