MOBILE services operator Globe Telecom Inc. has forged a partnership deal with Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (Singtel) to strengthen the Filipino company’s information-security capabilities.
Under the contract, Globe will carry Trustwave’s managed security services, providing a “wholistic security offering” to enterprises that will enable coverage in areas, such as vulnerability assessment, network security, application and content security, endpoint security and access control, and security management.
Globe Chief Technology and Information Officer and Chief Strategy Officer Gil Genio said a need for a more secure database is now more apparent, given the slew of hacking activities around the world.
“We are in the midst of a digital revolution. Cybersecurity threats have been constantly evolving and we believe that a more proactive stance against attacks is necessary,” he said.
The partnership with Singtel leverages its recent acquisition of Trustwave, a global managed security services company that helps businesses fight cybercrime, protect data and reduce security risk.
“Because we recognize that not everyone is capable of implementing a comprehensive solution, the need for managed security services is more apparent,” Genio said.
The partnership, according to Singtel Enterprise Group CEO Bill Chang, will help Filipino companies and their customers to be protected from criminal acts in the cyberspace. “The frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks and breaches are on the increase across all industries. Hence, it is imperative for businesses to stay one step ahead of such cyberthreats,” he said.
Chang added: “This partnership leverages Globe’s intimate understanding of the local landscape, Singtel’s expertise in providing managed services, and Trustwave’s experience in delivering enterprise-grade managed security services. Together, we will help Philippine companies protect their assets and customers in order to safeguard their reputation against cybercrime.”
