THE second-largest telecommunications firm in the Philippines has launched an unlimited data-roaming service for its prepaid subscribers, expanding its current portfolio of international products for its 46 million subscribers to enjoy.
Specifically, the new offering—tagged as Globe Prepaid Roam Surf—will provide its prepaid subscribers, which represent 97 percent of its total base, with unlimited mobile data abroad. It has partnered with several telcos around 50 countries to provide the service.
Prepaid customers traveling to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Nauru, the Netherlands, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAW, Uganda, the United Kingdom and the USA can avail themselves of the service.
Roam Surf for Globe Prepaid offers customers the ability to choose from three variants: P599 for 24 hours; P1,797 for three full days; and P2,995 for five full days. Customers can dial *143# and access the International and Roaming menu to register to the service without having to memorize registration keywords.
“With the Globe Prepaid Roam Surf, prepaid users no longer need to buy local SIMs and change numbers or search for Wi‐Fi spots in their destinations just to connect to their loved ones and the things they love doing on their smartphones. We empower them to continue living their digital lifestyle with access to the Internet anytime and anywhere they need it, at a price that’s within reach and an experience that’s convenient and hassle‐free,” said Coco Domingo, vice president for Globe Platinum and Roaming Business.
In 2014 Globe launched the flat rate for unlimited data roaming service of P599 per day to its postpaid customers, paving way for a boost in its data-roaming business with its customer base growing twofold as a result of a strong take‐up of the service and the increasing appetite for data connectivity while abroad.
