GLOBAL Cebu seeks a bounce-back win when it faces Kaya Makati for solo second spot in the Philippines Football League (PFL) today, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Global-Kaya match is set at 7 p.m. with the Cebu-based team, which will momentarily use the Rizal field while its home pitch is being renovated. Global and Kaya are tied at the second spot with four points apiece.
Global will try to recover from a heartbreaking 1-1 draw with Stallion Laguna last Sunday at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan City.
Matthew Nierras scored the equalizer in the nick of time—93rd minute—to save Stallion Laguna. The draw was a semblance of the team’s Asian Football Confederation Cup Asean Zone semifinals 2-2 draw with Home United of Singapore last week when Stipe Plazibat nailed the game-tying header in a crazy sequence in the 95th minute.
Global interim Coach Marjo Allado said his wards already learned from their mistakes from the back-to-back draws.
“We already addressed that to the players in our previous training sessions that concentration is very important until the very last minute,” Allado said. “It’s a tough game against Kaya with our tight schedule, but we are looking forward for the result. We drew last game so the focus is to get the three points.”
Kaya Makati, on the other hand, has momentum on its side when it visits Manila fresh off its 2-0 victory over Davao Aguilas last Saturday at the University of Makati Football pitch.
