The Zonta Club of Makati & Environs (ZCME) once again brings FilipinaZ, the only fashion/art fair and fundraiser created by women to serve women, from July 28 to 30 at 8 Rockwell in Makati City
“FilipinaZ is where you can choose to bring home jewelry, a fine piece of fashion, or a work of art from fine collections inspired by the strength, beauty and sophistication of a true Filipina and her potential for doing great things that benefit society,” said Zonta Club of Makati & Environs President Armita Rufino.
“All our programs, from women’s health services to livelihood generation and more, are centered on uplifting women’s lives—and the proceeds from FilipinaZ will go directly to those programs,” Rufino added. The proceeds from the three-day shopping event will be used to fund the ZCME’s programs and advocacies, such as the Psychological Center in Marillac Hills for sexually abused children; the Empowering Women Scholarship Program; the No to Early Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy Advocacy; the Health, Nutrition and Hygiene Program; and the Kababaihan Program.
Additional funds collected from the sales will also go to the club’s health services and livelihood programs for marginalized communities in the cities of Makati and Taguig.
Now on its fourth year, FilipinaZ will mainly feature jewelry, fashion and art, all of which are made by 60 local vendors, which the fair’s organizers handpicked themselves. “What we did is we became very selective in curating our participants. We want them to really extend—not only the kind of company they are but the design and craftsmanship they have,” said FilipinaZ Committee Chairman Maritess Pineda.
For jewelry and clothing, there’s Doro Barandino, an eponymous clutches and jewelry label famous for its signature geometric and architectural-shaped minaudières; Kababaihan Bags, a label that is a product of the club’s Kababaihan project; modular jewelry brand Alchemista, which will unveil the much-awaited result of their collaboration with Kyooreo’s Charming Baldemor; All That Glitters; Definitive Handcrafted Opulence by award-winning jewelry designer Ann Ong; Eccentrics Limited by Juliana Santos-Garrett; Kathy & Kathy Bespoke by Ilonggas Kathy Sarabia-Babst and Kathy Gregorio-Anover; homegrown jewelry label Kuwintas; Catherine Trillana’s Yerovi Jewelry; and wearable art designer Carlo Evaristo’s Otsirav’e.
In the art department, works from multiawarded artists, like Mario Panis, Ronna Manansala, Boysie Villavicencio and Charming Baldemor of Kyooreo, will be showcased. FilipinaZ will also display artworks from the Bruno Gallery of The Bruno Art Group, a global art house. For the fundraiser, Bruno Art will exhibit multidimensional works by Slava Ilyayev and David Gerstein, plus local artists like Katrina Pallon, Jay Ragma, Jeff Dahilan, Michael Pastorizo and more.
Apart from the ones mentioned, FilipinaZ will also display items by Judy’s Jewels, art by Boy Sy, Mark Panis, Rocky David and more. FilipinaZ will also be unveiling limited-edition prints signed by the artists of the featured artwork for authentication.
For the event, the organizers will also have a talk in store about their advocacy, particularly one about the ZCME’s programs and how helpful to its beneficiaries the last iterations of FilipinaZ were.
