BELEXIS Concepts Inc. (BCI) announced it would launch several activities to develop a stronger branding program especially outside Metro Manila to generate more awareness among the buyers. We want to get a bigger share in the Philippine mobile market, said Michael Bangayan, president of BCI, which sells the Gionee brand mobile phones.
Bangayan said the company needs to keep pace with the strong and aggressive marketing programs of the top mobile-phone companies.
“We will implement more and bigger brand-awareness programs, especially in the provinces to make Gionee a byword in the mobile-phone horizon,” Bangayan said in a recent interview at the sidelines of the opening of its first concept store in Manila.
Although he did not cite sales figures, Bangayan said Gionee has been doing well in terms of sales in the market since the product was launched two years ago.
Asked if the Gionee can achieve a double-digit growth in sales this year, Bangayan said BCI is optimistic the goal is achievable.
“We’d like to think so,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bangayan said the opening of Gionee’s first concept store in Metro Manila enables mobile-phone enthusiasts to experience Gionee’s products and be guided by a well-trained and dedicated geek squad in making the right smartphone choice.
“Even with the advent of online shopping, we know that Filipinos still love to touch and see in person the products they want to purchase,” Bangayan said.
“At our Concept store, you don’t have to worry about buying a precious item like a smartphone without knowing how it works. You will be able to tinker with the unit you’re eyeing for before purchasing.”
The concept store carries Gionee’s various lines of high-end smartphones and affordable mobile phones, as well as essential accessories that go with those.
During the event, Gionee also launched the ELIFE E7 Mini and the G5 Gpad as part of broadening their product offerings to Filipino mobile-phone users.
Gionee first made waves in the global market when it launched the ELIFE S5.5, the world’s slimmest smartphone, according to CBS Interactive ZOL. The ELIFE S5.5 remains to be a strong contender in the high-end smartphone arena, and more so now with its free upgrade to Android Kitkat 4.4.
