DAVAO CITY—The General Santos City government said it was opening slots for a new batch of scholars with its partnership with a vocation school and the Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
The scholarship was opened for high-school graduates. The Work Scholarship Program for the new batch of scholars would be accommodated at the Golden State College, according to Philip Pabelic, executive assistant to the Office of the City Mayor. “This is a great opportunity for high-school graduates who wish to continue their studies, but have no means to do so,” he said.
Under the program, students may enroll for free at any of the following programs: automotive servicing NC I (156 Hours); automotive servicing NC II (676 Hours); electrical installation and maintenance NC II (40 Hours); shielded metal arc welding NC II (268 Hours); bread and pastry production NC II (141 Hours); cookery NC II (316 Hours); front-office services NC II (442 Hours); health-care services NC II (996 Hours); and pharmacy services NC II (271 Hours).
Pabelic said the applicants must be at least 18 years old and a high-school graduate and may get their application form at the Office of the City Mayor.
He said the scholarship program was part of Mayor Ronnel C. Rivera’s thrust in providing formal and alternative education to residents.
