EPSON Philippines Corp. (EPC) President-cum-Country Manager Toshimitsu Tanaka will concurrently take the helm at the 10-country Epson Regional Office (Epson Singapore Pte. Ltd.) as managing director, president director of Epson Thailand and director of Epson Indonesia starting June.
The move is seen to bolster the already-successful client-oriented approach in its business-management style, which will further provide a corporate fillip toward the final year of both Epson’s corporate vision and the second half of its midrange business plan.
An Economics graduate from Waseda University, Tanaka started in Seiko Epson Corp.’s (SEC) System Devices Sales and Marketing Department in 1981, and was eventually relocated to Epson’s South and Southeast Asia headquarters in Singapore to serve his tenure from 1997 to 2003 as sales director for system devices. There, he led regional sales initiatives and secured a high-value Ministry of Education tender project, which saw the production of 20,000 units of projectors for classrooms, in Malaysia in 2002.
Tanaka returned to the SEC global headquarters in Japan in 2003 to oversee its marketing department, and then he was appointed general manager, instrumental in driving sales for the business products globally a year later.
In 2007 Tanaka was appointed general manager of the SEC imaging products sales and marketing support department. He became the head of EPC in 2012, strengthening the billion-peso success as a brand and a top-of-mind recall in the consumer and business digital-imaging sector in the country, where he created new business models to fit the local requirement and led its dedicated and innovative staff members and officers in achieving market-share and value-share leadership and footing in the inkjet printer, projectors and business systems categories. With Tanaka’s 34-year affiliation with SEC and its affiliate companies, and his economics acumen, he is an asset integral to many of Epson’s seminal corporate accomplishments during his various designations.
