BELIEVING in the continued viability of the Philippines as a hub for its operations in the Asean region, Emerson Philippines opened on Thursday its new $35-million technological facility at the SM Cyber West Avenue building in Quezon City.
This is Emerson’s fourth office in the Philippines, said David N. Farr, Emerson chairman and CEO, during the ceremonial opening of the facility, aimed to help in the continuous growth of the company in the country.
“This organization has become a great contributor to Emerson. They’re involved in so many parts of Emerson and has grown from just pure customer service to technology, to innovation, to supporting the global infrastructure of Emerson and our solutions,” Farr said in his speech.
The ceremony was attended by local and global company officials, partners and customers.
From the 16-story building, seven floors will be occupied by the company. It houses many of Emerson’s technological offices such as data centers, integrated-solutions center, climate-technology center, technical-support center, and services and training centers.
Through this facility, local and global customers and contractors can seek not only the company’s products and services, but also use its state-of-the-art training equipment and simulators through Emerson’s Partner+ program.
JP Russell, Emerson business leader of Financial Services, said during the company tour that these training facilities are not available in the company’s older facilities in the country, and that it is the No. 1 heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigerating simulation lab in the Philippines.
Russell said the new facility will house roughly 2,000 employees. Emerson has a total of 4,400 employees in the Philippines to date.
Emerson Vice President and General Manager in the Philippines Phil Kelaart said the company has been growing at about 10 percent a year for several years now.
“We’d like to grow more in the Philippines. We’re working on how we can utilize this organization to better support Philippine investments since the Philippine economy is doing great right now,” Farr said.
