THE Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has set aside P780.9 million for site-development works and improvements in utilities in the Bicol International Airport.
In a bid bulletin, the DOTC called on interested parties to bid for the project to develop the Bicol International Airport or the new Legazpi Airport.
The project entails site-development works, improvements in utilities such as power, water and sewer, and the construction of the administration building, operation and control tower building, cargo terminal building, crash-fire rescue building, power house building, and maintenance building. It also involves the construction of material-recovery facilities, pump house and water tank, chilled water pump house, fuel-storage tank, chlorination houses, guard houses, and the quarters of the aviation regulators.
The DOTC said prospective bidders must have completed at least one contract that is similar to the contract that they will bid for, and the value of which must be at least 50 percent of the approved budget for the contract.
Prebid conference will be on January 9, while the bid submission deadline is set on January 21. The P3.5-billion Bicol International Airport was targeted for completion this year. But because construction was delayed, the project is expected to be finished before the end of President Aquino’s term in 2016. The airport is expected to boost Bicol’s tourism and create more jobs in the region.
