WITH his smoldering Asian eyes and a body to die for, everyone lusted after Daniel Matsunaga when he first landed here. But when the Brazilian-Japanese model entered the Pinoy Big Brother house and showed his compassionate, nice-guy side, everyone fell in love with him. So much has happened to Daniel ever since he won the reality show, like he is now an ABS-CBN contract star. In his personal life, Daniel is now in love. He recently admitted that he’s in a relationship with Erich Gonzales. Now half of the girls and gays in the country want to do evil things to poor Erich. I hope she’s tough enough to face them because her boyfriend certainly is.
Daniel has faced enough intrigues since he stepped into the spotlight, like the wrath of the family of his ex-girlfriend (he used to go out with Heart Evangelista and the Ongpauco family deemed him unworthy of their heiress), the nude pictures that spread on the Internet, and many others. Maybe he’s got this toughness from Pinoys. “Filipinos are a tough bunch,” Daniel said. “Regardless of the adversities that are thrown at them, Filipinos are able to overcome them and continue to flourish. It is part of the Pinoy spirit,” he said.
It is this toughness that convinced Kix Channel to tap him to be the ambassador of “R U Tough Enough (RUTE)?,” a nationwide search for the toughest Pinoy.
In line with RUTE, Kix will deploy “Tough Troopers” around Metro Manila in search for tough men and women to compete in the challenge. The competition is open to all Philippine residents aged 18 years old and above. If you can’t wait for the Tough Troopers to find you, you can apply online at www.kix-tv.com/tough. Shortlisted participants will be invited for a closed-door audition on August 16. The audition will determine 10 finalists who will compete in a final showdown at SM Megamall on September 5, 2015.
The final showdown is an obstacle course with challenges that will test each contestant both physically and mentally. Out of the 10 finalists, only one man or woman will walk away with the title of “The Toughest Pinoy” and the grand prize of P250,000.
