SINGAPORE-headquartered D-Link International Pte. Ltd. announced recently the rollout locally of its high-definition wide-angle Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-fi) camera.
The networking products supplier said in a statement the camera is the first in its family of “HomeKit-enabled” devices. In a statement, the firm said the camera “provides an easy way for users to monitor their home”.
The HomeKit integration allows users to be “always home,” and includes advanced security features with end-to-end encryption and authentication between the camera and an iPhone or iPad, D-Link said.
“When activity is detected, users will receive a rich notification on their lock screen, delivered via the Apple Home app, showing a live feed from the camera,” the company said. “Users can even access their Omna [camera] remotely to see what’s happening in their home in real time.”
According to D-Link, the camera offers a 180-degree view. Its video bitrate continuously adjusts to ensure optimal performance given the available bandwidth. Users can also listen and speak using the camera’s built-in microphone and speaker.
“So even when users are not at home, they can still make their presence known,” D-Link said.
The camera also has a night-vision capability and motion detection. While the camera is only currently available in Singapore, D-Link said it will soon sell the product in the Philippines.
