THE National Police has acquired 398 more India-made service vehicles that can be used for troop transport as for administrative functions, training and other command activities.
Forty units of Mahindra Scorpio light-transport vehicle have been delivered and are now ready for distribution to directorial staff offices and national support units, while the remaining 358 will be distributed to regional commands and regional offices of national support units.
Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor, National Police spokesman, said the command alloted P349,444,000 from its 2014 Capability Enhancement Program to fund the contract for the procurement 398 units of Mahindra Scorpio at a unit price of P878,000.
The supply contract was formalized by the National Police and Columbian Autocars Corp. on December 10 last year.
The nine-seat Mahindra Scorpio is powered by a four-cylinder, 2400-cubic-centimeter diesel engine that delivers 73 horsepower at 14 kilogram-meter torque.
Mahindra Scorpio is manufactured by the same manufacturer of the Mahindra Enforcer that is currently in service in the National Police.
