4 wounded in bomb explosion

FOUR people were wounded on Saturday night when a homemade bomb that was fashioned out of an 81 mm mortar shell exploded in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., National Police spokesman, said the explosion occurred at around 8:30 p.m. at the Starlight videoke bar, which is  the national highway in Tacurong City.

He identified the wounded as Glaiza Juan, 19, Noraya Laguia, 23, and Sorayda Tabon Lagya, 28, all of T’boli, South Cotabato, and Elenita Molan Alesna, 34, of Apopong, General Santos City.

The victims were taken to Quijano Hospital in Tacurong City for medical treatment.

Cruz said policemen are still investigating the motive of the attack and are determining those responsible for the explosion.

The bombing came amid reported threats by terrorists, including members of the Jema’ah Islamiyah to launch terrorist attacks in the country.
