SAN Miguel Corp. (SMC) has named Sergio Edeza, its head of treasury and senior vice president, as the new president and chief executive officer of Bank of Commerce (BoC) effective June 13.

Edeza, a former national treasurer, replaces Billy Goquingco, who is leaving his post citing family reasons, SMC said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Edeza brings with him a rich experience in public and private banking and finance, having served as national treasurer from 2001 to 2004 and director of the Central Bank treasury department,” the company said.

He also served as senior executive for Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. and Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co.

Edeza was among the original candidates running for a seat on the board of the Philippine Stock Exchange before withdrawing his bid last week, without specifying a reason.

BoC currently offers a wide range of banking and other financial products and services including traditional deposit products, corporate banking, consumer banking, treasure, asset management, trust services, trade and credit card services.
