MORE than lectures in school, the value of hard work and discipline is also best taught to schoolchildren.
This is what Ambassador Antonio L. Cabangon Chua, chairman emeritus of Fortune Life Insurance Co., wants schoolchildren to incorporate in their value system, along with the importance of saving and good manners to help them achieve a successful future.
Featured in the workbook is the ambassador’s rags-to-riches story which underscores to Grades 3 and 4 pupils the importance of hard work and discipline in achieving success in life.
In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and with the help of Marylindbert International comes Fortune Life’s advocacy campaign: The Value of Hard Work and Discipline activity book.
“Mahalagang bagay sa isang estudyante ang makatapos… at sana ang librong ito ay makatulong para sila ay maging successful balang araw,” Ambassador Cabangon Chua said during the turnover ceremony of the workbook to the DepEd.
Present during the event were Education Undersecretary Yolanda Quijano, former Education Undersecretary Vilma Labrador, Fortune Life Insurance Co. Inc. President Arnold Cabangon, Marylinbert International President Linda Legaspi, Fortune Life Executive Vice President and General Manager Evelyn Carada, and Fortune Life agents.
Quijano said the DepEd is happy for the “gift of love” that Ambassador Cabangon Chua gave public school pupils that will hopefully inspire students to strive hard to succeed in life.
“I personally admire how the values you want imparted to the schoolchildren are incorporated in each of the lessons in the activity book. The DepEd is very thankful for the kind of support that Fortune Life is giving us as we continue to push for Values Education and Formation among our students,” the DepEd official added.
The activity book also includes literature, language and grammar.
The younger Cabangon said that the life story of his father would help inspire young children to dream big and work hard to achieve those dreams.
Fortune Life will give away 32,000 activity books to over 20 public schools in Metro Manila.
