LAGUNA-BASED semiconductor manufacturer Cirtek Philippines Holdings Corp. said it will introduce new products to the market that will significantly increase the company’s revenues.
Antonio Callueng, the company’s vice president for sales and marketing of its semiconductor business, said the company is pioneering in the country the gallium-nitride wafer technology. The technology is used in various applications such as telecom, Wi-Fi, data, network, satcom, broadband and consumer radio-frequency applications.
Gallium nitride as a semiconductor material offers a high level of mechanical stability, hardness, heat capacity and thermal conductivity, permitting devices to operate at much higher voltages, frequencies and temperature, the official said.
“We are working with several customers in various stages of development; we expect initial product release late this year,” Callueng said.
“To be one of the pioneers to utilize GaN technology puts the company in an advantageous position, allowing it to quickly acquire valuable market share,” the division’s president, Jorge Aguilar, said.
The company’s microwave division also recently launched its mobile point-of-sale (POS) terminal, which, it said, has a huge application potential in diverse businesses such as utility billing, financing, inventory management, distribution, ticketing, food stalls/kiosk, among others.
The product has an LCD (liquified crystal display) with resistive touchscreen and numeric keypad which provides a flexible platform for the design of an easy-to-use user interface.
The mobile POS’s interface allows for real-time data transfer, minimizing the risk of fraud and pilferage, the company said.
Currently, the POS product by Cirtek is used in the local transportation sector for bus ticketing and being explored to introduce to different sectors.
The company recorded consolidated revenues of $14.1 million for the three months of the year ending March, an increase of 26 percent from $11.2 million for the same period last year.
The growth was accounted for by the contribution of Cirtek ATS and sales growth of its new product division. The company recorded a net income before income tax of $1.4 million for the period, or an increase of 31 percent compared with $1.1 million last year.
