CIRTEK Holdings Philippines Corp., a Laguna-based technology company, said it bagged new contracts from three global semiconductor companies.
The company said its unit Cirtek Electronics Corp., a semiconductor assembly and test firm, was chosen by Bourns to manufacture over-molded package Power Transient Voltage Suppressor (PTVS) devices, or and Transient Blocking Unit (TBU) products.
TBU is also a surge-protection device for industrial and automotive battery management protection, while PTVS is a unique diode protection device designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment by absorbing high energy transients, such as those from indirect lightning strikes.
Introduced to the market by Bourns a year ago, the said products have since gained traction and received strong demand from customers.
Under the supply agreement, Bourns will supply the manufacturing equipment, while Cirtek will provide dedicated space and personnel.
The arrangement is in line with Bourns’s global initiative to consolidate its outsourcing of high-value products to reliable and competitive business partners who can deliver at competitive price points and has the ability to quickly respond to high-volume requirements if the market so demands, the company said.
“We are honored to have been selected to support Bourns’s PTVS project,” Cirtek Chairman Jerry Liu said in a statement. “Our partnership with Bourns spans more than 10 years and we appreciate their long-standing trust in our product and service quality and execution. We will continue to provide innovative and efficient solutions to support our customers’ growth and success.”
“We continue to expand our partnership with Cirtek as we consolidate operations and continue to grow our semiconductor business,” said Craig Shipley, vice president and general manager of Bourns Communications Division.
Cirtek has also been selected by two of the top 10 largest global semiconductor integrated device manufacturers to manufacture microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and protection devices for commercial applications that is estimated to generate a combined $2.5 million per year of new revenue for the company.
The MEMS product is expected to begin qualification by end of last year and production to begin by the second quarter of 2017.
Annual sales value of the MEMS project is estimated at $1.5 million, the company said, while for the protection devices, Cirtek estimates a minimum $1 million in annual sales.
“However, once this device is launched successfully, Cirtek expects more significant business from the customer,” the company said.
