CERES Negros and Global Football Club (FC) try to ride the momentum of their victories last week when they face separate clubs from Malaysia at tonight’s resumption of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2017.
Ceres Negros aims to hike its front-running four points in Group G when it battles Felda United at the Pana-ad Park and Football Stadium in Bacolod City at 7:30 p.m.
Football-crazy Ilongos are again expected to pack the venue to cheer for the home team which registered a 5-0 shutout of Tampines Rover of Singapore exactly seven nights ago.
Global, meanwhile, tries to keep its record umblemished in Group F as it also seeks its sixth point against powerhouse Johor Darul Ta’zim at the Stadium Tan Sri’ Dato Haji Yunos in Johor Baru. The match is set at 8:45 p.m. (Manila time).
Like Ceres, Global is coming off a victory—2-0 over Cambodian club Beoungket Angkor at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh.
Global, led by skipper Misagh Bahadoran and Paul Mulders, will be up against a Johor Darul Ta’ zim side which slid to the second place with four points after settling for a 1-1 draw with Magwe FC last week.
Global’s Japanese coach Toshiaki Imai is also again expected to lean on Amani Aguinaldo, Matthew Hartmann and Pika Minegishi and foreign players Wesley dos Santos (Brazil), Darryl Roberts (Trinidad and Tobago) and Shu Sasaki (Japan).
Spaniard Bienvenido Marañon, Manny Ott, Iain Ramsey and Fernando Rodriguez and goalie Roland Müller are seen to steer Ceres past winless Felda United, which also settled for a 1-1 draw with Hanoi FC in its previous match. Lance Agcaoili
