CLARK FREEPORT—The provincial government of Pampanga and Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) have reached an agreement for the use of a 2,000-square-meter property on CM Recto Avenue here to showcase Capampangan products.
The signing of the lease agreement (LA) was made on Friday at the Amare Restaurant here with Gov. Lilia Pineda and CIAC President and CEO Emigdio Tanjuatco III as signatories.
The 2,000-sq-m lot on CM Recto Highway is being used every Friday as an open-type market for various produce sold by vendors from the province.
The concept was first introduced by former Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo, who secured a permission from Clark Development Corp. (CDC) to sell various farm produce at low prices.
The provincial government wanted to formalize the pact with a memorandum of agreement with then-CDC president Antonio Remollo in 2011. The plan was shelved, after Remollo was replaced as president of the state-run firm.
The property, which now falls within the jurisdiction of CIAC under President Aquino’s executive order transferring the civil-aviation complex to the Department of Transportation and Communications, is now ready for leasing.
On Friday Pineda and Tanjuatco agreed to allow the establishment of a One Town, One Product center in the area to showcase Capampangan products for annual leases of only P1.
Under the LA, a 5×5-sq-m area will also be allocated at the Departure Lounge of the Clark International Airport to allow departing passengers a last chance to buy Capampangan products.
