SOLAR Transport and Automotive Resources Corp. (Star Corp.), exclusive distributor of BYD (Build Your Dreams) vehicles in the country, has launched its five-star customer program, which aims to give current and upcoming BYD owners’ assurance and peace of mind that they have bought a quality vehicle that is at par with what is being offered by other manufacturers/dealers in market.
In a glittering launch held in their showroom along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong on March 24, Star Corp. Managing Director Mark Andrew Tieng presented the five aspects of the five-star customer-service program.
“Allow me to start by sharing with you our company vision—to be the leading mobility solutions provider, built on excellence in technological innovations, committed to environmental sustainability and delivering the best brand ownership experience by a team of passionate individuals,” Tieng said.
The first aspect of the program is the extension of the current warranty being offered to new buyers, which was three and is now five years or 100,000 kilometer (whichever comes first). The new warranty gives BYD buyers one of the longest warranties in the market today. The said warranty offers a bumper to bumper protection for would-be owners thereby giving them peace of mind.
The second aspect of the new program is another assurance to customers on the expertise of service technicians who will provide service to their vehicles. This is also complemented by the top caliber infrastructure like facilities and technology for the technicians to be able to do their job well.
The third aspect is the assurance of the availability of the genuine parts and accessories for the owners. During his presentation, Tieng mentioned the question posted by would-be buyers to their sales representatives: Will parts be available if their vehicles develop trouble? Tieng emphasized that they don’t have anything to worry about.
The fourth aspect and probably its main feature is the “Call your BRO.” With BRO, which stands for BYD Response Operations, BYD owners can now call a dedicated hotline (0917-6501111) for assistance if they have any trouble with their vehicles. The customer assistance operator will help owners in troubleshooting if it’s a minor trouble and send a team of technicians if it’s a major one. The said team will come in a especially equipped BYD L3 complete with the tools to repair any mechanical problem. They can also be called upon by owners to perform maintenance service on their vehicles, including tune-ups and oil changes if the owners cannot bring their vehicles to the service center.
The fifth aspect of the program is the free membership to the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) the country’s premier service provider for emergency roadside assistance. The membership is good for one whole year and offers another assurance to would-be owners that their backs are covered in the event of unexpected road emergencies or mishaps in Metro Manila, Cebu or Davao. The membership also provides members with assistance in the renewal of their vehicle registration at the Land Transportation Office, towing assistance, free personal insurance, discounts with AAP partner establishments and a lot more.
“Over the last 18 months, I am proud to say that so far, all BYD owners are satisfied with their purchase. So happy in fact that new BYD owners were once referrals of 2013 and 2014 BYD owners. They say the best form of marketing is word of mouth and the best form of a customer-satisfaction survey is referrals. It is our mission to continuously deliver the best brand-ownership experience to our customers. It is our pledge,” Tieng added.
Another highlight of the evening was the inspirational talk delivered by respected entrepreneur and columnist Francis Kong. Kong’s lively speech was often punctuated by punchlines on his topic about the changing landscape in the world of business. He also touched on the future of BYD as a carmaker and said that Warren Buffet, the famous American businessman and owner of a 10-percent share in BYD China, who must have seen something in BYD to part with his hard-earned money and invest it in the said company. Kong also proudly said that he is now an investor in the Star Corp. who saw a bright future for the company under the stewardship of the young Tieng. The night was capped with a delicious dinner and soothing music provided by a talented duo. Truly the future is bright for those who dream and work hard to achieve it just like the people behind BYD.
