FOUR more bread makers and noodle manufacturers have initiated a price rollback ranging from P0.10 to P2.50 following the steady decline in wheat prices.
Data from the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Division of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-CPAB) show Tinapayan Festival, Creative Bakeries and Uncle George Gourmet Breads have reduced their bread prices starting on November 2.
Gardenia Bakeries Philippines Inc. also announced the rollback of prices effective December 15. Tinapayan reduced its loaf bread by P0.50 or from P52.50 to P50. The price for Creative Bakeries’s two bread brands, Walter and Real Good, have both decreased by P0.50. Its pan de sal offering under two brands have also gone down by P0.25 to P.075.
Uncle George Gourmet Breads initiated price reductions ranging from P0.50 to P2.50 for its loaf bread beginning on November 17. For the company’s pan de sal line, a P0.75 reduction is seen.
The French Baker will start rolling back the price of its bread offerings end of November, with the most substantial decrease of P1 to P2.
Pinoy Tasty and Pinoy Pan de sal, the generic bread brands catering to the D and E markets, have also seen reductions: The price for the loaf bread has been decreased by P0.50, while pan de sal was reduced by P0.25.
DTI Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Victorio Mario A. Dimagiba said he expects other bread makers who have not reduced their prices to follow suit, but maintains the timing is a “commercial decision.”
For instant-noodle makers, Monde Nissin has announced a rollback of P0.10 as part of its Christmas promotion, according to the DTI-CPAB. From December 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016, the instant-noodle maker will reduce the price of Lucky Me! Chicken and Beef.
