SM Markets said it has expanded the coverage of the Philippines—Aparri to General Santos—to 265 branches.
SM Markets, the retail chain of the SM Group, said it has an expansion rate of 30 stores per year in every city and municipality in the Philippines.
“It aims to bring its stores to the far reaches of the country, even in places no one imagined an SM Markets store can open, to deliver world-class products and services to every Filipino household,” the company said in a statement.
SM Markets came from the unified brands of SM Supermarket, Savemore Market and SM Hypermarket as part of the SM Group’s reorganization of brands.
It said the company was able to close the gap of the disparities of rural and urban markets. Those stores located in remote areas act as main shopping centers for their communities.
SM Markets also claims to contribute to the progress of communities where its branches are located. The retail chain operator noted it has received 30 recognitions from different cities and municipalities as top taxpayer.
