CUSTOMER-service software developer Zendesk Inc. is banking on the Asia-Pacific region’s talent pool it describes as “huge”.
This was pointed out by founder and CEO Mikkel Svane during the launch of the San Francisco, California-based firm’s new office hub in Taguig City.
“The launch of the new office in Manila shows our commitment to grow in what is an important market for us for both customer experience and sales,” Svane said during the news briefing after the launch on February 20. “We’re expanding into a space four times bigger than our previous location, with double the seats.”
While Svane said their investment contributes to local job creation, he declined to put a number on the cost of his firm’s expansion.
The Danish-born executive said the new office will provide job opportunities for over 200 people. Svane added the Asia-Pacific region is a key focus for Zendesk with paid customer accounts growing by over 35 percent year-over-year. The number of employees grew by over 50 percent during the same period, he addded.
Svane said they chose the Philippines as its regional “customer experience” hub to access “the local pool of highly skilled, technical talent with strong English-language ability.”
Zendesk first opened its offices in Manila in 2014 with a team focused on sales, support and presales. The Zendesk Manila office measures over 2,200 square meters.
The new Asia-Pacific headquarters joins four other Zendesk offices in the region: Zendesk’s Asia Pacific Development Centre based in Melbourne, the Apac commercial headquarters in Singapore, and a sales office in both Tokyo and Bengaluru.
