Vehicles sold by local assemblers jumped 29 percent in September, according to a joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).
According to the Campi-TMA report, officially released on Thursday, vehicle sales in September increased to 27,069 units from 20,924 units in the same month last year.
Year-to-date, the local auto industry already sold 206,284 units, a 21.5-percent increase from the 169,727 units purchased by consumers in the comparable period in 2014. All vehicle categories experienced growth on a year-to-date perspective, with passenger car’s share increasing from 30 percent of total sales three years ago to 40 percent.
With this healthy growth, the industry is maintaining its target of selling 310,000 units for 2015.
