FRIENDS, this week, I would like to discuss the science of self-motivation with you.
I’ve always loved reading. Novels, history books, magazines, and newspapers of course (4 newspapers are delivered to me at 8 am daily—and I love it!) Reading has shaped the way I think and see the world in ways I cannot even fathom.
ARE you aware that asking the right questions can define your week? I am doing that on Mondays. But you can also do it today, a Tuesday.
I read with great interest a letter in a newspaper the other day with the exciting topic “Rediscovering the love of reading newspapers in the Digital Age.”
IN adopting the UN agenda for Sustainable Development, it is essential to free humanity from poverty, secure a healthy planet for future generations, and build peaceful, inclusive societies as a foundation for ensuring lives of dignity for all.
Are you looking to maximize your return on investment through a culture of empowered ethics and engagement?
A topic that comes back often in conversations is time management. How do I write this newsletter every week, while managing a business, doing market research, and communicating with business partners? Do I still have time to hang out with my friends and family? Can I share any tips around time management?
As an adaptive trait, curiosity draws us to seek information and new experiences. It’s how we learn about ourselves, others, and the world.
In a world where short-term gain seems to be more attractive than long-term sustainability, in a business environment where a business deal needs endless pages of legal language that can easily be circumnavigated if wanted, it may be necessary to focus attention on the historic principle of the “honorable merchant” and “preserve the virtues and decency of the honorable merchant.”
Is it always green fields and butterflies when you trend jack in social media marketing in the Philippines?
We are all convinced that the manufacturing sector in the Philippines has to grow to support the economy, generate employment and drive trade in both directions. Let’s look at some ideas what needs to be done:
Up to early 2020, no matter how much the office changed, the image of the boss endured: it was someone who put in years climbing the ranks or leapt between companies, propelled by triumphs in revenue growth. The best at charming new clients or closing deals. The manager with the final say on team objectives and your performance review.
I was delighted to read that the World Economic Forum recently highlighted again critical thinking and the ability to analyze complex situations as the top skills this year to master informed decisions and successful problem solving.
The issue of political influence and access as a potential avenue to corruption is hitting us again and again.
This year, cybercriminals will be as busy as ever. Are your departments ready to fight them?
DESPITE the negativity surrounding the 2023 economy, things have turned out better than expected. The “looming recession” never arrived, pandemic-disrupted supply chains straightened out, inflation cooled, labor shortages waned, and consumers kept opening their wallets. Let’s make 2024 a great year!
THERE is no question that being a CEO is a tough job and is getting tougher all the time. Here are some priorities that executives should follow as we move into 2024:
My valuable partner in the Integrity Initiative, Jose Cortez, visited me the other day and we extensively discussed the above subject, being both convinced that sustainability and working for the common good are needed by contributing to communities and protecting the environment.
We all have friends or family members who are suffering from diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s or are seeing first indications of these alarming diseases. There seems to be hope at the horizon!
In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), a fierce debate rages between two contrasting philosophies: the “doomers” and the “accelerationists.” This divide has been highlighted by the recent tumult at OpenAI—and the outcome of this debate could significantly shape the future of humanity as we know it.
It’s hard to read any media without running into a new story about different kinds of corruption, collusion, and rule breaking. Whether or not the stories we read are true, organizations caught up in them often lose credibility.
Again, impunity! Just days after the observance of the International Day to end Impunity for Crimes against journalists, the impunity was again manifested in the Philippines. A popular radio commentator died in a daring gun attack (which is still investigated!) Is it??
Company leaders looking to gain a competitive edge must prioritize data literacy for employees across departments and at all levels within their organization.
Today, I would like to cover three areas in the “Future of Work,” hoping that we will start a dialogue so that we can all learn:
Without critical thinking, we cannot thoughtfully process information and make reasoned decisions. We lose the ability to thoroughly analyze issues, understand different perspectives, spot logical fallacies, and weigh evidence. Critical thinking is the very foundations of a healthy democracy and an educated populace.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will take an oversized role in enterprise tech strategies in 2024.
I was delighted to see the information in the BusinessMirror a few days ago, highlighting Payoneer unveiling an incubation scheme for small BPO firms. Seventy Filipino entrepreneurs stand to benefit from a specialized initiative that can help and guide them navigate the most challenging aspects of starting and running a business. The company said that its innovation-based entrepreneurship methodology is inspired by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s disciplined entrepreneurship concept.
I hate to say this: Artificial intelligence (AI) as a technology is maturing.
There is plenty of news about entrepreneurship these days, encouraging people to start their own companies. Admittedly, I did not achieve that goal. Today, I want to write about the fact that I was a happy intrapreneur throughout my business life and share with you how successful intrapreneurship can be.
Unfortunately, that’s the truth. Powerful perpetrators involved in corruption can too often stymie enforcement against them by interfering with the justice system. Furthermore, investigations are complex, take “ages,” and are expensive. Unfortunately, the Philippines is Number One in the world when it comes to impunity.
