THE president and CEO of 8990 Holdings Inc. said the success of the mass-housing builder is a collaborative effort of his two partners, who founded the firm sometime in 2000.
Januario Jesus Gregorio Atencio III said reports about his retirement as CEO of 8990 Holdings seemed to convey the idea the firm’s success is just his legacy, and that “he is the man responsible for turning 8990 Holdings into one of the nation’s leading mass-housing company”.
“That statement is rather embarrassing for me. When asked about my legacy, I evaded answering the question and, instead, focused on the track record of 8990 and its growth story,” he said in a statement. “The success of 8990 is not just mine’s but a collaborative effort, with the leadership and guidance of my business partners Luis Yu, the founder of 8990, and Mariano Martinez, our chairman, as well as the executives and staff all through these years.”
Atencio added, “By no means was I the only one responsible for the growth and success of 8990, and my legacy is to have been part of that growth story.”
