Jimmy Alapag finally made his presence felt as a team manager for Talk ’N Text.
The former court general slammed Rain or Shine Head Coach Yeng Guiao for calling their import Ivan Johnson as “mentally unstable” and a “menace” to the league.
“There’s no room in the game of basketball for making degrading, or racial comments toward any player/coach. It’s not good for the game and, more important, our youth who watch and support the PBA and dream one day to be part of it,” Alapag said in a statement on Tuesday.
Guiao made the statements against Johnson after their 101-93 victory in Game Six of the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Physicality and emotion is a part of the game, especially in a finals series, but the contact and remarks, specifically aimed at Ivan Johnson, have been uncalled for. He’s been a consummate pro as a member of the Talk ’N Text team from Day One, despite many who continually try to bring us his past,” Alapag said.
