GLEN AGUILAR was all business last Saturday by pulling off a decisive comeback in lap three to pocket the intense Leg Two of the Diamond Motor Corp. Supercross at the MX Messiah Fairgrounds in Taytay, Rizal.
The 17-time national champion trailed in the first two laps, as the rising star from Davao, Bornok Mangosong, broke away from the gate to punch his way through the hot and dusty track of the Pro Open Production class.
With Mangosong just split seconds away from him after the lap three signal, the 42-year-old Aguilar mad a daring quick right turn from a tabletop jump to outsprint the young Mangosong, who is almost 20 years his junior.
From there, Aguilar cruised swiftly ahead of any threat to finish on top of the 20-lap race. He secured his second-leg win after leading also the series opener early this March.
“It was a close start. He was in front of me. But I just told myself that this is a long race, and I must follow and catch him. When I saw the chance to overtake him, that’s it. I just protected my lead,” said Aguilar, who immediately traveled north to Candon, Ilocos Sur, for another motocross race.
